Many dog breeds can be good guard dogs. One of the important thing for a guard dog is its looks. If your dog gives a nice look with white and fluffy coat the thief is most likely to challenge the protected boundary and if your dog looks fierce the thief might not dear to go anywhere near to its boundaries. But it all depends on the owner. Some owners like dogs who bark all the time and some prefer comparably quite dogs.

The Shiloh Shepherd is a rare breed of dog that is still under development. They are not recognized by any major kennel club, but may be shown in rare breed organizations. Shiloh Shepherds are larger and have a straighter back than most modern German Shepherd Dogs; they are bred for intelligence, size, and stable temperaments. Their coats can be a variety of colors and color mixes. They compete in obedience, agility and herding events and work as therapy dogs, search and rescue dogs, livestock guardians and service assistance.
